3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data under the following legal bases: Contract performance — to provide the matching service you signed up for; Legitimate interests — fraud prevention, security, and product improvement; Consent — analytics cookies and marketing emails (you may withdraw at any time); Legal obligation — where required by law.
4. How We Share Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with: Other users — your profile (photos, bio, age, intentions) is shown to potential matches; Service providers — Stripe (payments), Firebase (authentication), Resend (email), AWS S3 (photo storage), all bound by data processing agreements; Authorities — where required by law or to protect safety.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data (profile, photos, messages, swipes, matches) is permanently deleted within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by tax law.
6. Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — delete your account and all associated data (via Profile → Settings → Delete Account)
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Restriction — limit how we process your data
- Object — opt out of legitimate-interest processing
- Withdraw consent — for analytics or marketing at any time

7. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies (session, authentication) which cannot be disabled. With your consent, we also use analytics cookies to understand how the app is used. You can manage your cookie preferences via the banner shown on first visit or by emailing us.
8. International Transfers
Your data may be processed in the United States (Firebase, AWS, Stripe). These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
9. Children
Fair Match is strictly for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we discover an underage account, it will be deleted immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you by email or in-app notification of material changes. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
